THE GREAT RADIO COMEDIANS - Jack Benny, George Burns, more
In 1972 this special broadcast appeared on Public Television recreating those golden memories when the little box in the middle of the room provided entertainment. Television without pictures, radio was the main source of entertainment during the depression years and was the primary source for up to the minute news on world affairs during World War II. What made this broadcast so memorable was that so many of the comic genius that came out of those radio years were still alive and were able to look back at those forgotten years with wonderful memories.
Join Edgar Bergan (and Charlie McCarthy), Jack Benny, George Burns and Jim (Fibber of FIBBER MCGEE AND MOLLY) Jordon as they talk about those golden years. You will hear some of the broadcasts that made us all laugh even during tragic times. You will hear behind the scenes stories and for a real treat former members of Allen’s ALLEY’S ALLEY will recreate those comic moments with Peter (Ajax Cassidy) Donald, Minerva (Mrs. Nussabaum), Parker (Titus Moody) and Kenny (Senator Claghorn) Delmar. For anyone who grew up with radio back in the 30’s, 40’s and early 50’s…..for anyone who has heard about those wonderful old shows this DVD is a must. Great memories and great fun.
