The Crime Doctor film series was based on the popular radio program of the same title broadcast on Sunday nights from 1950 to 1947. Warner Baxter stars as the Crime Doctor in 10 film classics. Baxter finished his career with the series, which was relatively easy work for him having suffered a nervous breakdown and severe arthritis. He died two years after the final "Crime Doctor" movie. Just Before Dawn - 1946 - In the 7th film of the "Crime Doctor" series based on the radio program, Dr. Robert Ordway is summoned to take attend a diabetic, and gives an injection of insulin taken from a bottle in the patient's pocket. The man dies and Ordway discovers that what he thought was insulin was really poison.


The Millerson Case - 1947 - In the 8th film of Columbia's "Crime Doctor" series, Dr. Robert Ordway is vacationing in the Blue Ridge Mountains district of West Virginia when a typhoid epidemic breaks out. Three deaths occur with the first two being typhoid-caused but the death of the third person, Ward Beachey, is a case of poisoning. Orday learns that Beachey was the town Romeo with many enemies and that most of those had access to the poison.


Crime Doctors Gamble - 1947 - On a lecture/vacation visit to Paris, Dr. Ordway drops in on his friend, the Prefecture of Police. He becomes involved in a case involving the stabbing of an old man.


Crime Doctors Diary - 1949 - Dr. Ordway tries to prove that his patient was framed for arson.
