THE LINEUP starring Warner Anderson & Tom Tully

Classic TV Shows

Perhaps because of the popularity of DRAGNET in the 50?s police dramas were at an all time high. One of the all time favorites of that era was The Lineup, an American police drama which aired on radio from 1950 to 1953 and on television from 1954 to 1960.

The television version was set specifically in San Francisco and was produced with the cooperation of the San Francisco Police Department, which received a credit at the close of each episode. It starred Warner Anderson as Lieutenant Ben Guthrie and Tom Tully as Inspector Matt Grebb. The TV version was filmed on location. Syndicated reruns of the series were broadcast under the title San Francisco Beat. Here are 18 exciting and rare episodes from this long ago series. Three of these episodes actually contain the original network commercials (one with cowboy star "Wild" Bill Elliott selling cigarettes.)
